Nexor Connector for Exchange 2007 Reduces the Cost of International Interoperability

September 2007

Nexor, a Microsoft Certified Partner and provider of high grade security solutions and services to the military and government sectors, brings X.400 support to Exchange 2007 by enhancing Nexor Connector for Exchange (Connector), a solution designed to reduce the cost of international interoperability.

Microsoft Certified logo High grade messaging solutions are underpinned by internationally agreed standards which require support for both the X.400 and P1 communications protocols. As such, these protocols are widely used in the public sector, whereas commercial enterprises tend to prefer de facto internet standards. Earlier versions of Microsoft Exchange supported X.400, but Exchange 2007 does not.

As a specialist supplier of high grade messaging capability, Nexor has a commitment to support these standards and protocols and recognises the on-going requirement of Microsoft customers to maintain X.400 and P1 capability. With the original Connector, Nexor integrated its X.400 communications ‘stack’ into the Exchange environment. This was the first commercially available implementation of an integrated X.400 connector for Exchange 2000 and it has been widely adopted in strategic and tactical messaging environments operating on Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003. Connector has now been enhanced to incorporate support for the new Exchange 2007 Foreign Connector API. As a result, Nexor is the only provider of an integrated X.400 capability across all Exchange platforms.

“The integration of Connector, enhanced to support Exchange 2007, provides our customers with the first tightly coupled, fully X.400 compliant gateway product. Co-locating Connector on the Exchange server reduces the amount of hardware compared to a typical Exchange bridgehead solution, thus reducing both the solution footprint and total cost of ownership. Connector allows users to support STANAG 4406 Edition 1 and Edition 2, ACP123, ACP145, ACP142 and S/MIME on all Exchange server platforms”, comments Alan Ross, product architect.

Connector is administered through a Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Snap-In and is neatly integrated with Exchange Hub Server and Exchange Edge Server configuration. The configuration is stored within Microsoft Active Directory and Microsoft Active Directory Application Mode.
